INTRODUCTION

A statute of limitation is any statute which imposes a limitation of time upon an existing right of action. It is settled law that the reasons for the existence of such statutes are threefold: that long dormant claims have more of cruelty than justice in them; that a defendant might have lost the evidence to disprove a stale claim; and that persons with good causes of actions should pursue them with reasonable diligence.2
